Toolbars |
Creating new toolbars for HomeSite and ColdFusion Studio is pretty easy. But you may need some special tricks to get them to look exactly the way you want - as I found when creating the CS-RCS toolbars. And while creating toolbars for yourself is still fairly simple, even with the special techniques used for the CS-RCS toolbars, preparing toolbars for distribution to fellow developers requires some extra techniques. Most of these techniques are undocumented features! The Toolbar Tips page spells them out for you.

Editing tools |
HomeSite and ColdFusion Studio offer several options for working with HTML and other tag-based code. Apart from directly typing your code into the editor window, HomeSite 3.01 and ColdFusion Studio 3.11 have Tag Insight and Tag Editors for entering and editing tags; there is also the Tag Chooser to select a tag for inserting into your code. In the versions 4.0 of these programs we now also have Tag Inspector, a property-sheet type interface.
All of these tools have distinct advantages and disadvantages. And exactly to what extent they are able to help you produce tight and legal code depends largely on the data files used by the tools. What to choose? What to use? And what is important? This page about the Code editing tools available in these programs will tell you more.
